Let's run in the Pine Forest! This route goes from Jedey to Fuencaliente by the forest below Ruta de Los Volcanes. Most trails around the village of San Nicolas are still closed after the volcanic eruption. The village of Jedey is on the main road to Fuencaliente right after San Nicolas. You can access to Jedey by the guagua line 210 that goes between Los Llanos de Aridane and Fuencaliente / Los Canarios.
Jedey - Fuecaliente, 15km: This route (marked in blue on the map) start from Jedey on the PR LP 15, a trail that goes all the way to the east side of the island in Tigalate. Stay on the PR LP 15 for about 5 km of steep ascent. When you cross the “Pista Forestal” (forest road), take the right for 10 km of descent to the village of Fuencaliente / Los Canarios. Once you cross the GR 131 "Ruta de los Volcanes", turn on the right to take the GR 131 to the church at the center of Fuencaliente.
What to Do in Fuencaliente? you can enjoy a good coffee with bread or pastries at the bakery Zulay. There are bars, pizzeria, supermarket, shops and services, as well as a Tourist Information Center (next to the bus stop). You can take a bus back to Los Llanos de Aridane or to Santa Cruz de La Palma via Mazo. In Fuencaliente, you can visit the winery Teneguia or hike down to the lighthouse "Faro" and the "Salinas" (sea salt harvest). There is a bus that goes south to the lighthouse and back to the village.
